This year, we will not only be exploring the different cultures of countries in South Asia (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and India) through food, music, and politics, but also hold events for the South Windsor High School community to enjoy.
Some of these events will be:
-Fashion shows
-Cultural dances
-Cultural fairs
Fashion shows and dances will be charged for between $3-$5 per head. This money will then be donated to various trustworthy institutes in both America and South Asia.
Fashion shows will be the talk of South Windsor for months. Men and women will show off the beautiful attire of South Asia while loud music plays.
Cultural Fairs will have fashion displays consisting of salwarkameez, or a long shirt and trousers; classy dresses, and lehengas, or long, elaborate skirts. There will be lots of South Asian and American music playing. Guests will enjoy delicious traditional foods such as biryani, a spicy rice dish, or kulfi, a sweet frozen treat kind of like ice cream. Guests will also be able to play fun games from South Asia such as ludo, a board game in which one tries to get all four of their pegs to home base before anyone else does.
Cultural dances will have music, traditional foods, dance performances, and fashion displays.
Most meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of every month and announced on the Monday before. If there's an event to plan, you will be notified of any changes through announcements or via email.
Remember: as a part of this club, your opinion is highly valued. So don't be afraid to share ideas!
Sincerely,
Sairah Sheikh
